How does home physiotherapy work in Jelapang?
A physiotherapist comes to your home, watches how you move through it and treats you there. Jelapang (九洞) is on the northern edge of Ipoh, so it helps to tell us your street or a landmark so we know exactly where to go.
Send a WhatsApp message with the street, who needs help and the main problem. The Jelapang area page describes the neighbourhood, and home physiotherapy explains the service.
Can the visit be timed for the weekend?
Yes, ask. If you travel up from KL, Penang or Singapore, tell us which weekends you will be at home. We try to book a visit when you are in the room, because the family member who sees the exercise done is the one who can repeat it.
For a longer stay, we can plan two visits so that you see the first plan and the first adjustment.
What do I learn when I am there?
The physiotherapist shows the safest way to help your parent stand, walk and use the bathroom. You try each movement yourself, with correction, so you know what is helpful and what is not.
- How to stand on the weaker side.
- How to help from a chair without pulling the arm.
- How to guide a few steps and when to stop for rest.
- Which exercises to repeat each day.
Our guide on caring for parents in Ipoh from KL covers the wider picture.
How do siblings share one plan?
Ask for a short summary after each visit. Post it in the family chat. Whoever is with your parent that week repeats the same exercise set, and the others check by video call.
Choose one person to message us with questions, so the replies do not scatter.
What local goals can we set?
Jelapang life gives practical goals. Walking round a supermarket in the neighbouring township is a gentle step that most patients can aim for. For a golfer, standing, turning and carrying a bag come first, and the doctor decides when to swing.
A short walk on a flat road in the cooler part of the day is a good everyday target.
Which hospital papers do I send?
Families in Jelapang come home from Hospital Raja Permaisuri Bainun, KPJ Ipoh Specialist Hospital, Hospital Fatimah or Pantai Hospital Ipoh. Send a photo of the discharge summary and the medicine list before the first visit.
If the patient had a stroke, read stroke rehabilitation at home in Jelapang.
