How care works with us

From your first WhatsApp message to a plan you can follow at home.

What is the path from first message to recovery?

You message us on WhatsApp, we ask a few questions, a physiotherapist assesses you, and together we agree a plan. Treatment starts at the first visit, and the plan changes as you improve.

Most families go through the same six steps. Here they are, in the order you will meet them.

Step 1: What do we ask when you message us?

We ask who needs physiotherapy, what happened, and which part of Ipoh they live in. We also ask what matters most to the patient, in their words: “climb the stairs”, “hold my grandchild”, “play badminton again”.

If you can, add the diagnosis, the hospital, the date of any surgery and the medicines. A photo of the discharge letter helps. Half of this is enough to start, because we can ask for the rest.

Step 2: How do we decide home or centre?

Home physiotherapy is available now across Ipoh. Our centre at Canning Garden, near Fatimah Hospital, is opening soon.

We suggest the route that fits the patient. Someone fresh from the ward, unsteady on their feet or recovering from a stroke usually starts at home. Someone who can travel and wants gym equipment will suit the centre once it opens.

Our home versus centre chooser can help you think it through.

Step 3: What happens at the first assessment?

The physiotherapist listens to the story, then looks at how you move. We check how you stand, walk, sit down and get up, and we test strength, joint movement and balance.

At home, we also look at the places that matter: the bed, the bathroom, the front step and the stairs. Our first visit guide and first visit checklist list what to have ready.

Step 4: How is the plan agreed?

We explain what we found in plain words, then agree two or three goals with you. A goal is something you can see yourself doing, such as walking to the corner shop without stopping.

We then suggest how frequently to come and which exercises to do between visits. You decide, and you can ask us to explain anything again.

Step 5: How do follow-up visits work?

Each visit starts with how the week went. We repeat key checks, treat, and update your exercises so they stay at the right level.

If something is not improving as expected, we say so and change the approach. If you need a scan, a doctor or a surgeon, we tell you and help you take that step. Read our guide to when to seek medical care.

Step 6: How do we finish?

We finish when you reach your goals or when you can carry on with a home programme. We give you a written list of exercises to keep.

You are welcome to message us again if something changes. Some patients return after a new injury, and the earlier notes save time.

What does it cost, and who is the physiotherapist?

Home and centre prices are different, and no price list is published yet. We quote on WhatsApp once you describe the situation. Our fees page explains what affects the cost, and the insurance page covers claims.

Physiotherapists in Malaysia must register with the Malaysian Allied Health Professions Council (MAHPC) and hold a valid practising certificate, according to a June 2026 news report [1]. You can ask any provider, including us, about this. Read more on our editorial policy page and about page.

Questions people ask

How many visits will I need?

It depends on the problem, your goals and how you respond, so we set the number after we have met. After the first assessment we suggest how frequently to come, and we change that as you improve. You can always ask where you stand.

Can the whole family join in?

Yes. A spouse, child or helper can sit in on visits, learn the exercises and the safe way to help. For families living away, we can message the plan after each visit if you ask.

What happens when I no longer need physiotherapy?

We agree a finish line at the start, usually a goal such as walking to the kopitiam or climbing your stairs. When you reach it, we hand over a home programme to keep going on your own, and you can message us again later.

Can I move from home visits to the centre?

Yes, once our Canning Garden centre opens. It is opening soon and we have no date yet. The plan and your progress notes carry across, so you do not start again.
