Arrange home physio in Canning Garden

A single-storey house still has a porch lip and a bathroom step, so we plan around them.

How do I arrange home physiotherapy in Canning Garden?

Send us a WhatsApp message with the street, who needs help and the main problem. We reply with how a first visit would run and give a quote after a short description.

This page is the practical how-to. For the neighbourhood itself, see physiotherapy in Canning Garden, and for the full service, read home physiotherapy.

What should I send before the first visit?

Four small things make the first visit far more useful.

  • A photo of the front entrance, including any step or slope.
  • A photo of the bathroom door and the bed.
  • The discharge summary or doctor’s note, if there is one.
  • The medicine list.

You do not need to tidy the house first. We would rather see the real porch, the real bathroom floor and the chair your father actually sits in.

What happens in the first visit?

The physiotherapist asks what the patient wants to do again, then watches how they get out of bed, stand, walk and sit. Most landed homes here are single-storey. We walk the route from bed to toilet to kitchen and look for small hazards: a raised porch, a car-porch lip, a wet bathroom threshold.

You leave with one or two exercises and a plan for the next week. The family member present learns how to stand beside the patient safely.

Which hospital papers might I be holding?

Canning Garden sits close to Ipoh Garden, so papers may come from Hospital Fatimah or Pantai Hospital Ipoh. Some families hold discharge papers from KPJ Ipoh Specialist Hospital or Hospital Raja Permaisuri Bainun instead. All of them are useful, and we follow what the surgeon or doctor has asked for.

If a hospital outpatient physiotherapy appointment is already booked, tell us. Home visits can fill the weeks before it.

What changes when the Canning Garden centre opens?

Our centre here is opening soon, with no date to give yet. Until then, home care is how treatment starts. When the centre opens, a patient who walks well enough to travel can move to equipment-based sessions, and the home plan becomes the starting point.

Prices differ between home and centre, and we quote on WhatsApp.

What can a family set as a local goal?

Pick one outing that matters to the patient. In an estate of mature trees and quiet streets, it could be walking to the end of the road and back, or standing at the stove to cook one dish. We break the goal into steps and agree each with you.

If the patient had a stroke, the guide to stroke rehabilitation at home in Canning Garden covers the extra steps for transfers and family training.

Questions people ask

My mother lives alone off Jalan Keliling and I work in KL. Can I arrange the visit?

Yes. Message us her street, her main problem and the best time of day, and we reply with how a first visit would run. If you cannot be there, a neighbour or relative can open the door, and we send a short summary of the exercises afterwards if you ask for one.

Your centre is in Canning Garden. Why book a home visit first?

The centre is opening soon and we have no date to share, so home visits are how care starts now. A person who struggles to leave the house is better treated where they live. Later, the plan can move to the centre when travelling is comfortable.

We have a sloping drive and a gate step. Does that matter?

It helps us to know. A slope or a lip is exactly what the physiotherapist will rehearse with the patient, because that is the spot where a tired foot catches. Send a photo of the entrance and we plan the first walk-through around it.

Father cooks and serves at a small family eatery nearby. Can the visits fit around work?

Tell us his working hours and we suggest slots outside the busy meal times. We also give a few short exercises he can do beside the counter between customers, so progress does not wait for the next visit.

Every body is different. For a diagnosis that fits you, see a registered physiotherapist or doctor, and seek urgent care for sudden weakness, numbness, chest pain or severe pain after a fall.
