Home physiotherapy in Tanjung Rambutan

Rehab that works with floor mats, front steps and family meals, not against them.

What is different about a home visit in Tanjung Rambutan?

A physiotherapist comes to your house, watches how you move in your own rooms and starts treatment in the same visit. Here, that includes how you get down to the floor and up again, because meals and prayer may be taken there.

The usual routine is on the home physiotherapy service page. This page adds what is particular to living in Tanjung Rambutan.

How do I plan for floor sitting?

Getting down to the floor and back up needs leg strength, hip movement and balance all at once. When one of these is weak, the whole movement becomes risky.

We practise it in stages.

  • Standing up from a high chair, then a lower one.
  • Lowering to a stool, with hands on a firm surface.
  • Kneeling on a cushion, supported on both sides.
  • Lowering to the mat with a family member beside you.

Until the floor is safe, we agree a chair or low stool for meals and prayer, so you are not left out of family life.

What should I tell you about a kampung-style house?

Raised floors, front steps, a back door and a kitchen at a different level are all common in older houses. Each can be part of the exercise plan once we know about it.

Tell us what steps are at the front, whether there is a rail, and how far the toilet is from where the patient sleeps. A photo helps if you wish to send one.

How does a visit fit around prayer and meals?

Tell us the prayer times you keep and when the family eats. We set the visit between them, and keep it short on days when the patient is tired.

If a family member can sit in, we show them how to help with the movement, and they can repeat it after we leave. Your preferences on privacy and modesty are respected, and you can ask for a family member of the same gender to help.

Where can the walking goal be?

Early goals are inside: bed to chair, chair to toilet, a few steps along the corridor. Later, a short level walk outside the house in the cooler evening is a sensible aim.

Some families like to walk along a path they already know near home. If there is a safe, level one, tell us, and we can plan the distance in small steps.

Questions people ask

My father finds it hard to sit on the floor for prayer. Can physiotherapy help with that?

Yes. We look at which part is hard: the knees, the hips, the back or the balance. Then we practise lowering and rising in steps, and discuss a low stool or a chair for prayer if the floor is not yet safe.

Can the visit be arranged around prayer times and meals?

Yes. Tell us the times you want to avoid and the time of day he has the most energy. We suggest a slot that works for both, and keep the session short if he is tired.

Our house is raised, with steps at the front and a step down to the kitchen. Will that be a problem?

It is part of the plan, not a problem. We practise those steps with him, show the family where to stand and suggest simple changes such as a firm rail or a non-slip mat.

My mother is anxious about falling and stays in one chair all day. Where do we begin?

We begin with short, supported standing and a few steps near her chair, so her confidence grows with each visit. We also explain to the family how to help without taking over, and we celebrate small gains.

Every body is different. For a diagnosis that fits you, see a registered physiotherapist or doctor, and seek urgent care for sudden weakness, numbness, chest pain or severe pain after a fall.
