What physiotherapy costs in Ipoh

You want to know the price before you ask, so you can plan with your family.

How much does physiotherapy cost in Ipoh?

There is no single price. Clinics set their own fees, and fees change. We quote a clinic’s price only when its own website shows it. Ask each clinic for its current fee for your problem, in writing if you plan more than one session.

What changes the price of a session?

Six things move it most.

  • How long the session lasts.
  • Whether the first assessment is charged separately.
  • The kind of treatment, for example general physiotherapy or a specific technique.
  • Home visit or clinic, because the physiotherapist travels.
  • Whether you pay per visit or in a package.
  • The number of visits the plan needs, which depends on the problem.

A cheaper listing for a short session can come to more over a month than a longer session that fits the problem. Compare the plan, not only the price.

What about government hospitals?

Government hospital and clinic charges follow a fee schedule set under the Fees (Medical) Order 1982, according to the Ministry of Health [2]. That keeps the price per visit low.

The trade-off is time. Hospital Raja Permaisuri Bainun and other public centres serve a large population, so the wait for follow-up can be long. Read our comparison of government and private physiotherapy in Perak.

What does home physiotherapy cost?

Home visits are priced separately because the physiotherapist travels to you and spends the whole visit with you. No Ipoh provider we found publishes a home-visit price.

How do I compare two quotes fairly?

Ask each provider to put the same five things in writing.

  1. Session length.
  2. What the first visit includes.
  3. Price per visit and any package terms.
  4. Who the physiotherapist will be, and their registration details.
  5. How progress is reviewed.

If you plan to claim, ask what receipt and report you will get. Our guide to checking a physiotherapist is registered covers the fourth point.

Questions people ask

Is the first session charged differently?

Some providers charge a separate assessment or consultation fee and some include it in the first session. Ask which applies and how long the first session lasts. Then you can compare like with like.

Are packages cheaper than paying per session?

Packages can lower the price per session, but they commit you to a number of visits before you know the plan suits you. Ask whether unused sessions can be used later and what happens if you stop early.

Can I claim physiotherapy from my insurance?

Some plans reimburse outpatient physiotherapy within a yearly limit. Ask your insurer first, and keep the invoice, receipt and any report. Our page on insurance and physiotherapy in Perak lists what to ask.

Is government hospital physiotherapy cheaper?

Public hospital charges follow a government fee schedule, so they are usually the lower price. The trade-off is waiting time and fewer visits. Some families use hospital care first, then add private sessions to keep progress going.
