What happens after a short stay at Pantai Hospital Ipoh?
You may be home within a day or two of an operation, with a discharge summary and a review date. The body is still swollen, stiff and cautious, and there is no ward physiotherapist at the foot of the bed.
That first week sets the tone for recovery. Knowing what to do, and what to leave alone, makes a real difference.
How do I plan the first week?
Start with your surgeon’s rules, then make the house work for you. This is a simple order.
- Read the discharge papers and note the restrictions.
- Clear the path from the car to the bed and bathroom.
- Arrange pillows and a chair at the right height.
- Do the exercises you were given, at the pace you were told.
- Ask for a physiotherapy visit within the first days if your surgeon agrees.
Our home safety checklist helps with the second step.
What should I ask the surgeon before leaving?
These questions matter most for active adults.
- Which movements are not allowed yet?
- When can I walk without a stick, drive and go back to work?
- When can I start strengthening, and when sport?
- Which signs mean I should come straight back?
Our page on post-surgical rehabilitation shows how we build on the answers.
What if I play badminton or run?
Sport is the goal for lots of people, but it comes at the end of the plan, not the start. We build from walking and strength towards jumping, lunging and quick turns.
Tell us the sport, your level and the date you hope to return. Read return to badminton and sports rehabilitation for the stages.
When can I walk outdoors again?
Once your surgeon and physiotherapist agree, short walks help. Taman Rekreasi Sultan Abdul Aziz in Taman Ipoh is one place residents of that part of Ipoh use for gentle walking.
Start flat and short, in the cool of the morning or evening. Ipoh’s heat and humidity tire you faster in recovery, so take water and rest in the shade.
How does home physio fit after a Pantai stay?
The physiotherapist comes to you, so there is no car ride with a stiff knee. We check swelling, walking, stairs and the exercises, then update the plan at each visit.
Home visits across Ipoh are available now through our home physiotherapy service. If you were treated at Fatimah Hospital instead, see our page on physiotherapy near Fatimah Hospital.
What about the centre and prices?
Our Canning Garden centre is opening soon, in a neighbouring estate to Taman Ipoh. Prices differ between home and centre, and we quote on WhatsApp after a short description.
